The things people ask us most.
If yours isn't here, email us and we'll answer it — and probably add it to this page.
Can I see what it looks like before I buy?
Not yet. At the moment you type your details into the order form and we make the print from exactly what you've entered, so please check your spelling and dates before you order.
A live preview is something we're working on.
What if there's no data for my date?
We'll email you before anything gets printed. Coverage is good from the late 1990s onwards, but gaps do turn up occasionally, especially further back.
If we can't make something you'd be happy with, we'll refund you in full.
How specific does the location need to be?
The place name is what appears on the print, so use whatever you'd call it — “Bodmin Moor” and “Mum’s back garden” both work perfectly well.
The coordinates are what we use to pull the data, so make those as accurate as you can.
Do I need to have taken a photo?
No. That's rather the whole point. All we need is when and where.
Can I order a date in the future?
No — we can only work from records that already exist. If someone's off somewhere soon, a gift card is the way round it.
I've typed something wrong. Can you fix it?
Get in touch straight away through our contact page. If we haven't started making it, we'll change it or cancel and refund you.
If it's already been made we can't refund it, but get in touch and we'll tell you what a replacement would cost.
Do you sell frames?
Yes — you can add a pine frame to any print, in black or natural wood, and it arrives ready to hang with the print already in it.
All our sizes are standard too, so if you'd rather choose your own, you'll find one easily.
How long will it last?
The paper is acid-free and buffered so it won't yellow, and the inks are stable for decades indoors. Keep it out of direct sunlight, as with any print.
Can I have something you don't make yet?
Ask us. We can't promise anything, but if it's something we can do we'd like to hear about it — send us a message on our contact page.
Is it cheaper to order two?
To send, yes. Every print after the first is £1.99 to post, whatever the size and wherever it's going.
Plenty of people order a pair — the night and the walk, or two of the same for a set of two houses.
Is this a good gift?
It works best when you know the occasion — the night they saw the lights, the day they finished a climb, a place they keep going back to.
You don't need to have been there yourself. You only need to know when it was.
What if I don't know the exact date?
A gift card. They pick the moment, the details and the size themselves, and it's made to their own specification rather than your best guess.
Can you send it straight to them?
Yes. Enter their address as the delivery address and add a note at checkout if you'd like us to leave the invoice out.
How long does it take?
Printing takes one to two working days, then it's posted. Within the UK that's usually two to five working days in total. You'll get a tracking number when it leaves.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — across Europe, the USA and Canada, as well as the UK. Rates are on our delivery page.
Framed prints can't currently go to Norway, Switzerland, Iceland or Canada, but unframed goes anywhere on the list. Customs charges and import duty are payable by you on arrival.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
Personalised prints are exempt from the standard 14-day cancellation right, because nobody else can use a print of your night.
If it arrives damaged, faulty or not as described, that's different — email us within 30 days and we'll put it right. Full details in our refund policy.
